Supporting Angels for Hope

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Good Morning Angel Lovers,

An easy way to support Angels for Hope Vote for AFH here

I know everyone is aware of the economy and yes it effects us too. We are always looking for ways to get advertising either free of charge or at least at a BIG discount. There is a contest going on at Blogworld and the 3 top winners get a free flight to the Blogworld convention. You might ask what that means for Angels for Hope. The convention gives companies access to industry leading professionals in social media and enables them to learn more about the tips and tricks of raising money and awareness for their causes online.

We feel it would be very beneficial to us and ask if you have the time to vote for us? It only takes a second. They are accepting votes through next Tuesday, September 22nd. You are allowed to vote every 4 hours.

It’s a great way to support AFH VOTE HERE PLEASE

We would appreciate your forwarding this to your family and friends.

Thank you for your support and visit us often

Hugs, Cindy

Remembering 9/11

Never Forget

Eight years ago today America suffered the worst attack since Pearl Harbor. Most of us remember what we were doing when we heard the shocking news. I remember vividly sitting at the computer doing Angel work as I saw it all unfold on tv. I remember the disbelief, this couldn’t be happening feeling. As the day continued my tears fell. So many lives were lost, so many families destroyed. But amongst all the tragedy grew pride. I watched as fireman, police and others went boldly into the burning buildings trying to save anyone they could find. I saw people helping people. I wished I could help!

I hope we all sit and remember how we felt on this day eight years ago and how we came together as a nation.

Thank you to all the fireman, policemen as well as the military both in and out of uniform.

Hugs, Cindy

Angels on Earth Magazine

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

We wanted to highlight one of our sponsors “Angels on Earth Magazine” this glorious Sunday.

If you do not subscribe, you might want to check them out! I was reading mine last night and in their “Letters and Messages” was a touching story especially since my hubby rides a Harley!

From Cape Coral, FL  REV TOM CONTI

When my older brother, Jerry picked me up from elementary school one day on his motorycycle I was thrilled to catch a ride. I clung to his back as he sped off, but when he went even faster I started to slip. A strong hand pushed me forward and held me securely against my big brother’s back. Of course both Jerry’s hands were on his handlebars. Who was holding me? I haven’t ridden a motorcycle since, but today I’m the chaplain for a group of bikers called the Vietnam Brotherhood. I tell them angels ride with them. I know from personal experience.

To read more wonderful stories such as this one subscribe to “Angels on Earth” HERE

While enjoying the magazine you can be supporting Angels for Hope as well.

What is Angels for Hope

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Many times people see the sign on my car door and ask “What is Angels for Hope” I usually say “we send crocheted Angels to those in need of hope”. Upon reading the exert below that I found in the “Talking Crochet” newsletter I wonder if I should come up with a better answer. Maybe I should say,  “we magically create an Angel with loving hands and send that love and hope onto another”.

In any event I thought you crochet lovers might like to read this exert below.

Have a wonderful day and visit us often at www.angelsforhope.org

Hugs, Cindy

Jean Leinhauser wrote the following editorial in the March 2004 issue of Crochet!

The man seated next to me on the airport bus asked why I had come to Chicago. I told him I was going to a crochet conference. He looked rather perplexed, and then asked, “What is crochet, anyway?”

I said, “It’s a method of forming knots with a hook and thread to create a fabric.” He stared at me, so I added, “It’s making doilies.” He smiled and nodded, “Oh yes, my grandmother used to do that.” I realized later that I had given him a pretty poor definition. Here’s what I should have said:

Crochet is that skimpy little high-fashion dress prancing down the runway at a designer show. It’s a warm hat and scarf in bright colors worn on a gray winter day or a soft, cuddly teddy bear clutched in a crying child’s arms.

Crochet is a glittery shawl thrown over a shoulder to accent a little black cocktail dress or a sleek little evening purse encrusted with beads. Crochet is a fluffy blanket that welcomes a new baby to the world or a pair of socks with a zingy heel treatment for a teenager to wear with clogs. It’s a Christmas stocking, a gift from one generation to another.

Crochet is magically creating something from nothing. It’s the love one pair of hands gives to another.

It’s probably a good thing I didn’t say all this; he would not have understood. But if you are a crocheter, you understand.”
